Supply vision and content strategy that promotes revenue development for this internet gaming enterprise. Design and produce 12 table, slot and leisure games annually. Shape R&D agenda, testing and quality control throughout the production process. Recruit and supervise art directors and designers. Select and manage vendor relationships. Craft new game proposals and high-impact sales presentations for license acquisitions from content partners.

  • Developed slot products that generated 50% of all company sales; released 65 games in 4 years generating over $1 billion in handle a year; Company earned recognition as a premium developer.
  • Key content contributor leading to the successful launch of WagerWorks. Created all visual designs for seed round funding and first customer pitches; venture’s core value offering centered on premium content provider model.

    Created 10 promotional video sequences for a signage network promoting games including Wheel of Fortune, Monopoly, Blazing 7s, Megabucks and Monte Carlo; designed player tracking screen content and a bingo game exclusive to Wynn Card Club members.

IGT – Reno, Nevada

  • Designed slot game cabinets and game themed casino interiors for license acquisition pitches. Successful acquisitions included Star Wars, Indiana Jones, ebay and Elizabeth Taylor. Other pitches included Monopoly, Beetle Bailey, Sabado Gigante, Joker’s Wild etc.
  • Provided industrial designs for Wheel of Fortune 2, Wheel of Fortune SUPER SPIN, Star Wars - Mini Bertha, The Price is Right Auto Showcase and an ergonomic bolster and button panel for IGT’s Advanced Video platform.

CHIEF CREATIVE OFFICER 1996 - 2000
SILICON GAMING – Palo Alto, California.
Spearheaded the design of 17 games and maintained library of 32 games for the company’s breakthrough multi-game, video slot machine featuring full-motion video and a touchscreen monitor. Directed staff and managed production assets, industrial design, live action shoots, prop and model construction. Awarded and administered vendor contracts. Identified marketing opportunities and executed initiatives.

  • Lead creative and principal designer for a Family Feud themed slot installation encompassing 2,500 square feet in the heart the MGM casino floor. Architectural themeing, machine purchase and media buy for project totaled approximately $3,000,000. Custom-built cabinets, games and casino floor build-out were completed in 6 months and far exceeded management expectations.
  • Enabled a transition from a homegrown IP to a licensed game IP development strategy: acquired Family Feud and The Price is Right titles from Pearson Television increasing IP folio valuation.

THEME PARK
LEAD DESIGNER/ CONSULTANT 1989 – 2003
UNIVERSAL STUDIOS - Los Angeles, California
Produced concepts, production art, storyboards and plan views for a number of theme parks and ride-film attractions.

  • Created master plan for Adventure Land in the Shanghai Theme Park including layout of Merlin Town, Sinbad, The Mummy, a roller coaster, restaurants and retail areas.
  • Provided design and storyboard art for attraction ride films and architectural scenics that included: Jimmy Neutron, Seafari, Jurassic Park, Mr. Magoo, Batman, Aquaman, Indiana Jones, An American Tail and The Funtastic World of Hanna Barbera.

VIDEO GAMES
ART DIRECTOR ACTIVISION – Los Angeles, California 1994 - 1996
Responsible for concept development, storyboards, and delivery of all digital art assets for an 80 screen interactive CD-ROM adaptation of Jim Hensons’ feature film Muppet Treasure Island. Secured Henson art and animation approvals. FX Directed a 10-day live action blue screen shoot with Tim Curry and the full cast of Muppet puppeteers. Project cost was $3,500,000 and had a staff of 40.

BLUE PLANET SOFTWARE – San Francisco, California 1994 - 1999
Direction, design and storyboards of all visuals for FaceBall, a low poly virtual reality game. Designed three thematically different prototypes for a Hasbro VR game platform.

E-TOYS
ART DIRECTOR / CONSULTANT ZOWIE TOYS - San Mateo, California 1999
Provided toy concepts, content development and plastics styling for this e-toy developer. Flagship titles included Muppets from Space and RedBeard’s Pirate Quest. Additional prototyped titles included RedBeard 2, Barbie’s Fashion Traveler (Mattel), Rugrats (Nickelodeon), and Mickey Town (Disney). Voted “it” toy of NY Toyfair 2000.

BROADCAST
ART DIRECTOR / CONSULTANT
ZDTV – San Francisco, California
Created Emmy Award winning, real-time, 3D on air hosts, Tilde and Dash; provided character bible, subsequent updates and modifications to character geometry and wardrobes.

PAINTBOX ARTIST / CONSULTANT
GRFX NOVOCOM – Los Angeles, California 1993 – 1995
Created Paintbox storyboards for high end broadcast graphics, show opens, station ID packages and logos. Clients included: NBC, CBS, Disney, KCET, and many network affiliates.

NICKELODEON – San Francisco, California 1992 - 1994
Sold a series of interstitial one-minute shorts: Poetry in Motion to Nickelodeon. Provided direction, concept, storyboards, set, prop, special effects design and Paintbox art. Produced a total of seven pieces over three years.

EDITEL SF – San Francisco, California 1990 - 1991
Created animated video graphics and effects for commercials and high-end industrials. Serviced major ad agencies and industrial clients in the Bay area. Clients included Foote Cone & Belding, Sachi & Sachi, Young & Rubicam, Hal Rinney, CBS, ILM, and Colossal pictures among many others.

ART DIRECTOR
WARNER BROS – Los Angeles, California 1988 – 1990
Serviced all of Warner's broadcast TV Shows with graphics, titles, promos etc. Provided over the shoulder News graphics for an in house syndicated news service distributed to 125 channels. Clients included Disney, The New Mickey Mouse club, Warner Electra Asylum, Reuters, & Tel America.

  • Designed the WB home video logo. This animation is (still) seen today on video and DVD releases of all WB films.

ASSOCIATE ART DIRECTOR
WHITNEY DEMOS PRODUCTIONS – Los Angeles, California 1987 – 1988
Introduction to computer graphics working on a 10 member production team creating the 1988 CBS presidential election graphics package . Created and assembled presentation pitch to CBS. Generated 2D production graphics. Worked with Sr. (CBS) Art Directors to generate key frames and production elements. This project had a $1.1M budget and used 13 Symbolics machines, a render farm and two Thinking Machines super computers.
